Sylvia Howard
est née à Indianapolis, Indiana (États-Unis) et a été élevé à Los Angeles,
en Californie. Sa carrière musicale débute à Phoenix, en Arizona, lorsqu'elle
est invitée à assister à un concert de son amie et mentor, Margo Reed. Pendant
son séjour en Arizona, Sylvia fréquente alors plusieurs clubs de jazz locaux
et participe au "Community Theatre". En 1990, elle remporte le trophée du
meilleur talent et du meilleur modèle lors du concours "Ms. Black Arizona".
Peu de temps après, rêvant d'élargir ses horizons, lorsqu'un contrat avec
l'hôtel Westin Plaza de Singapour lui est proposé, son aventure internationale
commence ! Sylvia se produit de Singapour à l'Indonésie, de Hong Kong à la
Thaïlande, en passant par la Malaisie, les Philippines, la Tunisie et Dubaï. Après plus de dix
ans passés en Asie du Sud-Est, son envie de se produire ailleurs la mène en
Europe. Elle vit maintenant à Paris, en France.
À son arrivée en Europe, Sylvia ne connait personne et n’a rien de concret mais elle est déterminée. En 2002, elle est invitée à écrire une chanson pour le film de Cédric Klapisch "Peut-être". Elle écrit et interprète la chanson "Moi, j’en veux un", qui figure sur le CD du film. Peu après, pour un autre film de Cédric Klapisch, "Ni pour, ni contre" (Bien au contraire), Sylvia compose la chanson "I wanna go somewhere", qu'elle chante également dans le film !
Depuis qu'elle vit en Europe, Sylvia a eu l’opportunité et l'honneur de se produire avec un nombre important de musiciens prestigieux ! Elle a diverti et ravi le public dans de nombreux pays européens, se produisant lors de nombreux festivals de jazz, de blues, de gospel , en big band, de la France à l'Italie, l'Irlande, la Suisse, l'Espagne jusqu’à Madagascar, le Maroc, la Biélorussie, Budapest ou encore Novossibirsk ! Et maintenant, le voyage continue ...
